MFR Sprints – Melbourne University!

MFR is once again putting on some exciting sprint orienteering – this time at the beautiful and intricate the University of Melbourne Parkville Campus! All ages and experience levels are welcome, these events are the perfect chance to give sprint orienteering a go!

Sprint races are the shortest format of orienteering (between 2-4km) and are held in complex environments like university or school campuses. More info on what to expect at your first Sprint event is available here (including what to bring).

We are thrilled to have Aston Key as course setter for this event. Aston is a world class sprint orienteer having won the Junior World orienteering Championships in 2019 and placed 5th at the World Orienteering Championships in 2022 in the sprint discipline. Aston has prepared fun and interesting courses that will keep you thinking from the start to the finish.

  • Starts from 11am-12pm, courses close at 1pm
  • Three courses on offer – approx 4km, 3km and 2km ( this one with navigation suited to newcomers and juniors)
  • Entry fees: Adult – $12, Juniors – $6
  • Pre-entry is strongly encouraged and will close at 11:59pm on Thursday 29 Feb (Pre-entry via Eventor, see links below), enter-on-the-day available for newcomers
  • We’ll be meeting at the BBQ area at Melbourne University Sport, 103 The University of Melbourne, Tin Alley, Parkville. Toilets are available in the Melbourne University Sport building.
  • There is no parking on campus so please park as per parking signs in the streets of Carlton or preferably, arrive via public transport (either a train to Melbourne Central or a tram up Swanston Street to Tin Alley)
